Understand the Different Types of Car Warranties

It is always good to be an informed consumer, and when it comes to buying a new vehicle, whether it is 'new' new or a pre-owned car, being knowledgeable is doubly important. One of the more important things related to buying the car that you may not have considered is the type of warranty your vehicle comes with. There are two main types of warranties that you will typically see offered on a car, a power-train warranty, and a bumper-to-bumper warranty.

A power-train warranty, while generally cheaper and longer lasting, only covers the main components involved in your cars propulsion system. That includes major parts like the engine itself, the transmission, and parts of the drive train. Parts that are expected to wear out over time are generally not covered by this type of warranty.

A bumper-to-bumper warranty offers coverage of most mechanical vehicle components, include the powertrain, the cars electronics and audio system, and things like air conditioning and heating. Body damage is generally not covered by even this warranty. When you're ready to purchase your next vehicle, come in to our showroom at The Car Store in Twin Falls, ID. We will be happy to discuss your warranty options and the pro's and con's of each in depth.
