Our team at The Car Store would like to share these tips on hydroplaning to keep you safe behind the wheel. The best defense when dealing with risk is understanding what is involved and taking preventative measures.

While sometimes you cannot avoid driving in bad weather, it is best to wait a while because the first 10 minutes after it rains is the worse time to get on the road. This period is more dangerous because the oils on the pavement have mixed with the rain to produce a slippery surface. You should take extra caution if you are required to drive directly after a rain shower.

Though cruise control is an incredible feature, it is not a technology you should use right after it rains because there is a greater chance of hydroplaning when it's activated. Cruise control can cause tires to spin much faster.
